What’s Your Waste Problem?
PET
Polyethylene Terephthalate is the easiest form of plastic to be recycled. It is one of the most commonly used forms of plastics, mostly for food and drink packaging like soda bottles, water bottles, food containers, mouthwash, bean bags, tote bags, peanut butter jars, jam jars, medicine jars, etc. PET has a strong ability to prevent gases like oxygen and carbon dioxide from passing through it. Therefore, it is used for carbonated drinks to keep the gas contained. The reason for choosing it for food packaging is its ability to prevent oxygen from getting inside and spoil the product due to chemical reactions.
HDPE
HDPE or High-Density Polyethylene is a relatively special and stronger form of plastic. It is composed of long unbranched polymer chains that make it very dense, thick, and strong. It is considered to be more stable and safer option to be used for food packaging, drinks compared to all other plastic types, as it has a negligible chance of leaching into the food products. Most commonly, it is used in the packing of detergents, motor oil, hair care products, milk containers, yogurt tub, juice containers, shampoo bottles, body wash bottles, medicine bottles, etc. HDPE is reprocessed and recycled through a very simple and cost-effective process and made into plastic lumbers, plastic crates, plastic fences, plastic tables, pens, and bottles.
PVC
Polyvinyl Chloride is the third-largest producing and widely used form of plastic that you will see in stuff everywhere around you. Toys, furniture, plumbing pipes, sewage pipes, ducts, cling films, window frames, packaging, detergent bottles, blood bags, medical tubes, and a lot more. PVC is high strength and very economical thermoplastic material that is also durable, lightweight, and easy to produce. It is a cost-effective and convenient alternative to building materials like concrete, metal, rubber, wood, ceramic, etc.
LDPE
LDPE or Low-Density Polyethylene has simplest polymer structure, having chain branching with long side chains that makes it less crystalline, dense and more structurally organized. This less dense form of plastic is generally found in the form of a thinner and flexible film. LDPE is not only clean but is also safe in the aspect that it doesn’t leach any harmful chemicals in the packed food items.LDPE is most commonly used in grocery bags, dry cleaning bags, frozen items packing, bread wrapping, garbage wrapping, plastic wraps, beverage cups, food storage containers, squeezing bottles, container lids, cling wraps, sandwich bags, etc. LDPE can be recycled into higher density products like garden furniture, paneling, garbage cans, bubble wraps, lumber, etc.
PP
Polypropylene has a stiffer and tough structure and is highly resistant to heat, making it suitable to be used as hot food containers. It is stronger than LDPE and weaker than HDPE, and a crystalline but rigid thermoplastic that is used in everyday households. It has high resistance to heat, puncture, and tear makes it ideal for various applications. Apart from having moderate strength and stability, PP is highly flexible that allow you to easily mold it into any shape. It is highly insulated, resistant to moisture, oils, and solvents, fatigue-resistant, and colorfast form of plastic. PP is most commonly used in manufacturing battery cases, packaging trays, syrup bottles, bottles caps, stadium cups, Tupperware, kitchenware, margarine tubs, yogurt containers, plastic diapers, sanitary pad liners, etc.
PS
Polystyreneis naturally transparent, can be solid or in the form of rigid foam. This versatile plastic-type is used in the manufacturing of various products packaging. You might have noticed the foam-like cartons or other items like foam food trays, cups, egg cartons, disposable cups, bowls, etc. Due to high insulation, it keeps the food items fresh for long time and is cost-effective comparing to other packaging types. It is combined with various additives, colorants, and other forms of plastics to manufacture electronics, appliances, toys, automobile parts, gardening equipment, gardening pots, etc. As polystyrene is an inert plastic type, which doesn’t react with other materials,so it can be used in the manufacturing of appliances like microwaves, ovens, refrigerators, etc.
Management
We More than Waste Management
At Interplas Recycling, our commitment towards environmental preservation is clear. Through recycling of plastic scrap, we do not only ensure our environment is safe and clean but also, we ensure that the future generations have a cleaner environment to wake up to and live in.
